It’s happening all over Europe, new taxes, especially when it comes to tourism.
Croatia doesn’t have property taxes but is proposing taxes for apartments or homes that are not being used as a residence, either by the owner or rented by a family. Our 2 bedroom apt would fall under this category as we do not live there full time. We figure our taxes for the year would be around $700. We’re waiting to see if it passes.

It sounds as if the govt. is looking at the boom in private airbnbs, where owners make a bundle often untaxed, and in many places this results in higher rentals for local working people, due to a shrinking supply of rentals available to them. I can appreciate.
