Need advise on visiting Crete Island

We are interested to visit Crete Island in 2nd week of May and we are not sure which part of Crete island would be nice to stay for one week.
Please also kindly advise if there is any recommendation for accommodation in Island.
We are thinking about Chania but not sure if that is the nice island for couple for first time in Crete island.
Any advice on Island name and accommodation is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You should stay on the western part of Crete, specifically in lovely Chania. It is a very nice island, the best, to visit and Chania is charming. It is a very large island which is why I specified that you stay in the western part.
We rented a cottage there for two weeks. We used Maria at Diktynna-travel.gr to book our vacation house. I recommend Maria highly. Chania is the best place to stay on Crete.
Where else will you be traveling in Greece?

In my opinion Chania is the prettiest city in Greece. Mind you I have not visited every one.
Look for a hotel inside the city walls in the harbour and old town area. The old town is vibrant with new sites after every corner. Second week of May will be warming up but you might still need a light coat in the evening if you are in the old town. Even if it is cool the tavernas have gas heaters to keep visitors warm.

We were in Chania last May and found the beach at Neo Chora to be quite warm.

There are interesting places to visit in the surrounding area. There is a bus to the Botanical gardens. The hiking in the Gardens is gentle but very beautiful.
Here are some images of Chania.

I need lodging in Chania for 3 nights in March/April. Prefer location to be walkable to areas of interest. Welcome any recommendations.

@enhamilton1980- you really shouldn’t piggyback on somebody else’s post. It’s a little rude. You can make your own and ask for advice that way.

Dear Rick Steve team,

The response that you gave me and accusing me for piggy back on some one else, is so much exaggerating. I don’t understand what I said that you get offended. Yes, I did research first in trip advisor as well, so I get idea, also this was the first time I used the forum and I very much regret. I don’t need to take these kind of comments from Rick Steve team. I understand the company is changing their philosophy which is not customer oriented any more! At the end, I apologize if you offended , didn’t meant to offend you but may I advise you instead of giving the comment to client( if you don’t like it) don’t respond. You are not in forum to correct the behavior of people ( if not liking by you). Please do not waste your time to answer. This way you save time for both if us. Thanks

The people who reply to these posts are not part of the Rick Steve’s Team. They are fellow travelers.

The comment about piggy backing on someone’s post was not directed at you as you are the original poster.

I think perhaps you did not understand the comment about piggy backing . First of us it was not addressed to you so you are upset about nothing - it was for another poster who posted in your thread , asking their question .
In fact you have been defended because the posters were just pointing out to someone else not to post in YOUR thread .

I think English may not be your first language because you totally did not understand it .

Also you are not asking Rick Steves team , you are in a forum where other travellers post and try to help each other .

And then because you don’t understand you say the Rick Steves team is not being nice ?
