Need advice on best ferry route to Milos

We are on a 3 day cruise ship which makes its last stop in Santorini for a few hours in the evening of June 14th, then continues back to Athens.
Our goal is to get to Milos the next day - June 15. Flights from Athens are all full (I know - I waited too long to book them).

So our options:
hop off cruise ship - find a place to spend nite in Fira, Santorini then take early bus to port to get on 8 am ferry (passenger cat) to Milos next day. It will cost a lot more to hop off cruise ship in Santorini and stay the night there with lodging/meals, I am aware.
or
Back onto cruise ship, sleep and breakfast, arrive Piraeus 6 am, then hop on noon ferry from Piraeus to Milos (4+hr trip on sea jet cat)
There is a 7 am ferry to Milos, but I don't presume that we could make the leap off cruise ship and onto ferry in one short hour.

My main question is what are the chances the noon ferry cat from Piraeus may be cancelled due to wind/high seas? vs the 8 am ferry from Santorini?I'd rather be stuck in Santorini than Athens, as we would have already spent three days in Athens. I run a charter biz so realize how sketchy marine conditions can be. Our pattern here in CA is calm mornings, afternoon winds.

It's myself (60) and my daughter (25). also - our flight home is actually out of Santorini 8 days later on the 22nd, so we will have two nites and three full days in Santorini at the end of our trip.
Thanks for any and all advice!

The seas aren't normally rough in June. You'll be able to catch the Speedrunner4 from Piraeus at noon, and it's a somewhat larger and more stable car ferry than the standard passenger-only catamaran. Or if it seems like it's too windy you can take the very large 3pm ADAMANTIOS KORAIS car ferry for much more stability on a windy day.

If you get off on Santorini you can relax that Sunday evening and catch the 8am cat on Monday. This is what I would do. Have your hotel book you a morning taxi to the port or find a hotel that offers free shuttle service to the ferry, such as Kallisti Thera Hotel.
