Hello. We are starting planning trip to Greece for around 3 1/2 weeks for early May to early June 2019. My husband was stationed in Crete in the US Air Force in 1970 and this will be his first visit back. We are thinking 7-10 days in Crete, concentrating on the western side. In addition to Crete we wanted to pick 2 other islands to spend 5-7 days each on. After looking through many of the posts here and in a couple of guide books, Naxos and Sifnos are places that have a lot of appeal.
It doesn't seem like this would be the best choice as far as ferry connections however, so I wanted to ask if maybe we should consider other options. Would Crete with Naxos/Paros (or Antiparos), or instead with Sifnos/Milos make more sense logistically?
We'd prefer the big ferries with decks to walk around on, and are also open to flights between some places. We live by the beach so this wouldn't be a beach vacation, but do like being by the sea for walks, views, and a swim if warm enough. Don't need nightlife and lots of shopping, but a variety of cafes, local culture, scenic walks, historic sites, all appeal.
Thank you for any input. This is first time posting here, so if more information would be helpful let me know.
