My husband and I will be travelling to Greece in mid September and are thinking of staying in Naxos for 2 or 3 nights. Any hotel suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
In Mid-September, all islands will be quieter, but in Naxos with large permanent population, the port town (Naxos Town) will still be buzzing, lots of restaurants, things to do. We like to stay on the beach, (St. George Beach, also called Ag. Giorgios) directly adjacent to town, for best of both worlds ... wake up to water view, walk along the sands etc ... and by day or in evening, it's a 10-15 minute stroll along the seafront to the harborside cafes, shops, museums other sights.
Right smack in Middle of beach, Hotel Asteria has all balcony rooms, 3 floors, facing the water, a terrace cafe. Villa Naxia, also w. sea view, 2 floors, small place lovely TA reviews.
I really liked Hotel Grotta. It's easily walkable from the harbour area (lots of restaurants), very comfortable rooms, wonderful staff and they serve a nice breakfast. They also have a small indoor swimming pool which is a great place to cool off at the end of the day.
We had a great stay at the Naxos Resort Beach Hotel a couple years ago. It's on Agios Georgios beach, one of the best beaches on the island. You can walk into town along the beach or take the back streets. Either way is just a 10 minute walk. The hotel employees were very friendly and helpful. The pool is lovely. The breakfast buffet is bountiful and delicious. Our room was spacious and clean and had a large terrace with a view of the beach.
Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't made any hotel reservations yet so will keep it in mind.
