Thanks to all the great advice we've received... In early to mid-Sept will be in Crete for seven nights, followed by Naxos for four nights, and then to Athens for our trip home the following day. We have found a great place to stay in Chania. Now, where shall we stay in Naxos? After seven days of active touring, we will be looking for a bit of R&R. Not all R&R, but certainly some. Can you provide specific hotel/and or area recommendations? Thanks so much!
Focus your hotel search on St. George Beach so you'll be within easy walking distance to everything Naxos Town has to offer.
We enjoyed our weeks stay at Alkyoni Beach Hotel on St. George Beach. It was a quiet location and a 10 min walk to town. We had a private patio to enjoy at the end of our day. It was a nice place to relax after a 2.5 week tour of Greece! Many wonderful restaurants in walking distance. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj6xo6K54T9AhXfBTQIHVutBjsQFnoECAwQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.alkyonibeachhotel.gr%2F&usg=AOvVaw2MvkNlKO0TlvIKwx5AmyGi
We enjoyed the Hotel Palatia located at the edge of Ag. Georgios Beach, which means it's a short walk to the center of Naxos Town. So it's in an excellent location, and you can have some R&R on the beach. We had a lovely room with a private balcony overlooking the beach. Our room rate was about $75 per night last May. Breakfast is 10 euros per person, which you can enjoy on your balcony. You have your choice of eggs prepared different ways, bacon or ham, pastries, Greek yogurt, coffee and juice. Manos, the owner, is very helpful.
For sure St George beach is the place to stay. Its a large good sand beach and its actually part of Naxos town just a 10 minute stroll along the headland into Naxos town waterfront promenade.
I normally search for hotels using Booking . com.. There are lots of good hotel at St George in every price range. Tell us what kind of hotel you want and price range. No pint in telling you about high end hotels if you are on a tight budget.
Any way here are some images of St George and Naxos town.

I stayed at the Windmill Naxos, and really enjoyed it. The owner was amazing - picked me up from the ferry personally, and when a windstorm caused canceled all outgoing ferries and my room wasn't available, he got me an amazing deal on a penthouse apartment at his friend's property. I will always go back and stay there when I visit Naxos. Aside from the hospitality, the rooms were beautiful - clean and spacious with balconies.
