Naxos- grocery stores, prepared foods or takeout options

Hi, as a solo female traveler, I usually don’t go out to dinner in the evenings when traveling. I prefer to eat a late lunch around 2-4 pm then have a snack in my room later or get takeout.

For an upcoming trip, I booked a suite in Hora, Naxos with a kitchenette. I’ll be preparing my own breakfasts.

Can someone recommend some places in Hora where I can get prepared foods or maybe takeout for dinner to take back to my room? Cooking is fine but I don’t want to deal with buying a lot of ingredients & the suite doesn’t have an oven just a cooktop so baking fish is out.

I guess I could have booked a room in a hotel but the idea of self catering appealed to me this time.

Being alone, it’s just not fun to go out to dinner by myself in the evening surrounded by romantic couples. Also I’m an early bird & hate eating late dinners. In Europe the restaurants don’t open for dinner until 7:00 so that’s out for me.

I was thinking a prepared salad and takeout falafel or something…???

Just go to Google Maps and type "Market", you will get this kind of result:

Note that mini markets or super markets open until quite late and that some are closed from around 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (siesta time!)

Greeks don't have dinner before 9 p.m.

My advice: wait until you discover your accommodation before going food shopping. It's likely that you will find some ingredients left in the kitchen and the fridge by all the previous guests.
It can be just salt, pepper, sugar and oil or it can be lots of things like coffee, pasta, biscuits, wine, mineral water etc.

Buy tomatoes, a cucumber, onions, feta cheese, olive oil and olives, and you can have your own homemade Greek salad for a few euros. :))

Thank you, the Greek salad sounds about right for me.
