My two friends and I have 4 days to either spend on Crete or Mykonos.
Which should we do? We will be flying from Rome and the prices and times are very similar. We are 27 year old girls ending our month long europe backpacking trip.

Crete is huge and it takes a minimum of a week with a rental car just to barely scratch the surface. But if you want diversity that's where you will find it, just as long as you don't waste too much time traveling around.
Mykonos is a very lively island, a major 20-something's party island during the summer months, and it can get very expensive there. There's not a lot to see or do there besides beach/water activities, shopping, eating and clubbing at night.
Which island best fits your collective idea of the ideal Greek holiday?
What dates are you planning for this? And what airport in Crete does this flight deal go into? (the airports are nearly 100 miles apart). And do these flight deals include onward flight home from there afterward? Or will you be needing to get to Athens for your homebound flight? The info on Mykonos is spot-on; Crete is more complex. Will your lodging prices affect your decision? Must you have a place right on a beach or nearby? This info can impact the advice we'd give you
As stated Crete is a large island and needs a lot more than 4 days to really know and appreciate. While I am loathe to say it . . . Mykonos may be your better option. It's glitzy, touristy, over-priced and crowded . . . not a real "Greek" island but for your time frame may be the better option. Having said all that . . . if it was up to me . . . go to Crete, especially Chania for the four days. You'll have a more Greek experience especially if you rent a car and get out of the main tourist zone.
If you like to party, go to the beach, shop, and don't really care about Greek Culture head for Mykonos . . . otherwise go to Crete.
