We'll be visiting Mykonos for a day in July. I've heard that the island is generally overpriced, and have seen Rick's suggested restaurants, but would love any feedback from those of you who have been there as to your favorite experience (and any places to avoid).
Only there for a day? Then you would not want to waste time sitting in a restaurant. Grab a gyro and keep exploring the area.
I figure that by dinner time we might want to sit for a bit. By day, I mean 24 hours (give or take); not a cruise stopover or something like that- realize I wasn’t clear.
In that case if y ou just want a nice casual place serving regular greek dishes i have one for you. You will wander inland in Mykonos Town on one of the Main Lanes... No point in lane names, they're never posted.... here's a "tiny URL" link to a map that makes it clear _ https://tinyurl.com/kbh8q8s Eventually, you'll get to an open area with a line-up of busses. That square/circle may have a name, but whats the point? No signs. As you approach, there will be tables on several sides of the lane, more in front of a sign that says Taverna Marco Polo. LOTS of tables, and too far from the sea front to be packed with cruise-crowds, Good seafood, pastas, traditional Greek dishes .. not as cheap as it used to be, but still not outrageous lilke the ones at the front of the port, or in "Little Venice."
Do we know what restaurants still exist? Unfortunately, some will have closed, ownership may have changed or the experience post-covid may have no resemblance to pre-covid. Depending when in July, you may try searching a number of other socially sourced websites for what they are liking at the moment. Having a short list would be great, but be flexible when on the ground.
