Mykonos or Naxos plus Santorini in March

We are going to Greece in March and most/all of the recommended hotels on Mykonos and Santorini are closed. It looks like there are plenty of other lodging options though. I'm wondering if it's worth visiting these islands in March? I am considering swapping Mykonos for Naxos, which is a much shorter ferry ride to Santorini and avoids a flight via Athens to get from Mykonos to Santorini. Seems like the main reason to go to Mykonos is the night-life scene, which may be non-existent in March (though night-life is not a priority for us.) However, it looks like most of the key things to do in Naxos are beaches, which is not a priority for us. Help!

No it is not worth visiting these islands in March... one wonders whether you did homework or research before booking flights. Many people think the Mediterranean climate is simillar to the Caribbean - but if you look at a globe its more like Washington DC. IF you are going to Greece to experience iancient ruins sites and top museums, you could put together a rewarding week in Athens and nearby Nafplio ... but I do not sense that history/archeology is your focus. What we can do to help is to advise you to try to change your bookings to dates between May and October -- or else to destinations that match your wish-list .. in terms of climate & scenery. Best wishes for finding good answers!

Spain’s Canary Islands such as Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuertaventura will have better weather during March than any of the Greek islands.

I don't know about the weather in the Greek isles in March, but I visited Naxos last year in November. The weather was great and the island is beautiful. If beaches and nightlife are not your priority, I think you'd love Naxos. I had trouble finding tours, but I did manage to get a private driver to take me around the island, and I found the owner of a local bike shop who gave me a private tour by eBike.

If you get an IDP, you can rent a car and explore the island at your own pace.
