Mykonos cruise port to Delos Island; Ferry vs. arrange local tour once arrive?

We're not sure if we should buy our ticket in advance on line: Delostours.gr or follow my RS guidebook to go to end of pier and pay cash; hopefully not sold out. I don't know how popular and busy this port is? We have from 7am to 3pm on a Monday, are they running on Mondays? Or on a Wednesday from 1pm to 10pm which gives us more "wiggle room" to get back to ship.

It is easy to get to Delos from Mykonos. You can purchase tickets at the dock.
There are ferries throughout the week (fewer on Mondays), departing from the old port. The departure times from Mykonos are 9am, 10am, 11:30am and 5pm, and returns from Delos are at 12pm, 1:30pm, 3pm and 7:30pm. On a second trip to Mykonos the ferries were cancelled due to strong winds.

The ferries take about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the weather and sea conditions. Be sure to get to the port about a half hour before departure time.
Professional tour guides will meet visitors at the gate in Delos. Once they have sufficient people they start the tour.
No need to plan an organized tour in advance.
One thing to take into consideration, if you take a ships tour and there is a delay getting back to the ship it will wait for you. If you DIY and there is a delay getting back to the ship they could leave without you.

Here are some images of our visit to Delos. We did it ourselves ( I really do not like tour guides)
