If I purchase a combo ticket and put the time slot for Acropolis for later the day say 5 pm, can I go to another smaller site prior to acropolis on the same day, 2pm?
Or the date and time chosen for acropolis will need to be the 1st entry.

The date and time you select when purchasing the combo ticket are those of the Acropolis & Slopes visit.
But you can use the combo ticket before or after the Acropolis visit
You can visit the sites in any order, the only rule being that the combo ticket is valid for 5 days from the first visit to any of the sites included in this ticket.

Let the posted answer above to this question be the one and definitive post regarding Acropolis tickets. I agree completely and less than one month ago bought the combo ticket and used it exactly as described.
