Milos/Sifnos - 2 weeks

Hi
We (husband and I) have just over two weeks (3 weekends ) in Greece in May and are being joined by our adult daughters (late 20s) and their boyfriends for the first 9 days.
We were thinking of a week in Milos and a week in Sifnos, but are now thinking 5 days in Milos and the rest in Sifnos so they can also experience both islands.
Partying/clubbing is not high on anyone's agenda. We all prefer swimming, walking, reading, walking through villages, sitting at tavernas at night and watching life unfold.
Any suggestions of where to stay in Milos?. As there are 6 of us it would be nice to be able to walk to a beach/tavernas instead of having to rely on cars.
Same for Sifnos.
We would prefer a self-catering place - or at least with a fridge and basic equipment.

I spent time on both islands last summer. Milos is the island that will be harder to get around without a car, as the bus system there isn't that great and it will be very difficult to get to some of the desirable locations. I stayed in Pollonia (the village on the NE corner) rather than the port of Adamantas, and there are several choices for self-catering (I didn't stay at one) and you'll be within walking distance of a beach and several tavernas.

I stayed in the port city of Kamares on Sifnos and got around fine without a car between the local buses and walking. If your group wants to hike, staying in the interior village of Apollonia might be better, as its sort of the center of the island's system of trekking trails. They have a website and an app.
