Thoughts on arriving around February 18 and staying about 4 weeks to mid-March? Is it too early in the year? I’d appreciate any help, thanks!
For the beaches— it’s definitely too early with February air temps 56/45. The sea temperature doesn’t warm up until summer. It will vary a bit, depending on where you go. but averages about 59-61 degrees during March.
Brrrrrrr!
Thanks, what if we don’t care about beaches?
I’m generally in Greece around that time of the year. The big upside is that everywhere is quieter but the downside is the weather. It’s generally quite cold and, more of a problem when sightseeing, can also be very wet with rain on most days. I started by going in mid February but, over the years, shifted to early March when you begin to get some sunny days.
If you are fixed on those dates I wouldn’t put you off - Greece is lovely at any time of the year - but if you could make it a couple of weeks later your chances of bright sunny days are greater.
This may be obvious but the north is considerably colder than the south. With a month to play with I would consider some time in Athens, with possible day trips to Delphi and Mycenae for example, and then an internal flight to Crete.
Have a great trip.
