so hotels and ferries are booked, now on what to do? We are a young family, kids are 7 and 4. What should we do in Athens, we are NOT interested in so many museums but more visiting the major archeological sites and what not. Our hotel is in Plaka. We don't have a rent a car and will not be renting one. Walking is absolutely fine and so are public transportations. We are however interested in visiting Aegina - i belleive this is the best one from Poros and Hydra. What are the top priorities to do in Athens? Give me a list of must see: We will not be returning back to Athens from Santorini, our flight will be to the U.K and then a few days there and back to U.S.
Do you have a tour book of Greece? It would inform you of what is there and make it easier for you to choose what YOU want to see/do based on your likes/dislikes.
When you arrive in Athens buy the multi site pass. This gives you access to all the top sites excluding museums. Visit these sites and you will have a pretty good plan at your finger tips. In between sites visit the Plaka and Monestraki area of central Athens. They are full of life with stores and tavernas and are close to the Acropolis. You might want to find the central market about 8 blocks up from the Monestraki metro station. It covers at least a full city block.
This is what central Athens is like.

In addition to Joe's recommendation, we found the Rough Guide To Greece and Rick Steves Greece valuable resources.
In Athens, don't overlook going to The Ancient Agora. It's a major archeological site with one of the best preserved temples in Greece but not very crowded at all. In Mykonos be sure and take one of the local boats out to Delos. Absolutely amazing place. Google them and see what you thing.
