We will hopefully be finishing our RS Athens and the Heart of Greece Tour on April 29 and will have 4 nights before we spend the night near the Athens airport before our early morning flight back to the US. We will have spent a week (altogehter) in Santorini and Naxos before the tour. We would like to spend 2 nights near Meteora and am looking for suggestions on what we could do with the other 2 nights. What places between Meteora and Athens would you recommend spending time in? We like short hikes, history, and beaches. Thanks!
Drive or public transit? Vital to know!
When I was working on a northern Greece itinerary, I was looking at a night or two near Mt Olympos, and I was planning on spending several days on the Pelion peninsula.
We are looking at renting a car. It looks like we can get to Meteora on the train, but not too many other places on public transportation.
The Bradt Guide is helpful--I did not get to take my trip due to covid, but I hope to do the same itinerary when I travel next. Take a look at those two (selected for outdoor pursuits) and see if they fit in your timeline.
Thanks valadelphia! I will check into Mt.Olympus and the Pelion peninsula. I went on the Bradt guide website and will look into getting the Northern Greece guidebook. Hope you get to do your trip soon!
Here are some options: Pelion, Lake Plastira, or Delphi.
