Check GeoBlue and Allianz; both of course based on age and length of stay. And if you have concerns about medical evacuation check MedJet. Enjoy your travels!

Here's a copy of information I posted last month :

For a healthy senior over 75: If you go to the World Nomads website and configure a quote for insurance, and put in an age over 70, they inform you:

World Nomads has partnered with TripAssure to support and administer
trip protection for Silver Nomads aged 70 and over.

https://www.worldnomads.com/usa/travel-insurance/silver-nomads

You then are referred here:

https://www.tripassure.com/main/

TripAssure is a brand of Generali, which is a major provider of travel policies.

Note: coverage may not be available if trip is longer than 30 days. In that case you might want to look into getting an annual plan.

Was that quote only for medical insurance, or was it full trip cancellation coverage? Whether you have a Medicare supplemental plan or Advantage plan may also determine whether you need additional coverage, you may only need medical evacuation coverage.

The information I provided above is included in this post, which you may find informative:

M edicare and Medicare advantaage plans do n ot operate outside the USA. A "Trilp Medical Insurance plan" is very different from "trip protection" The latter is designed to protect you from loss for a prepaid tour or cruise. The Medical version just takes care of Medical expenses ... and can be purchased at various levels.

I alwayas recommend using INSURE MY TRIP .. have used it for at least 9 trips to Greece. This link - http://www.insuremytrip.com/quote/package.html -- just asks age and length of trip, and then allows you to select 3 packages and comparee side - by - side riht o n he website to compare prices, coverage, special features (such as flights back to US if necessary). I usually picked a policy that offered $50K insurance ... and it was quite reasonable at the .80 year level, for a 2 or 3 week trip. Of course if you are going for 2 MONTHS, expect to pay more ... but if you can afford Europe for 2 months, you can afford more for coverage.

One of the best features is ... when you've chosen the coverage you want, but don't want to fret over making sure you tap in theright numbers & info --- there's a toll-free Phone number. A nice middle-aged lady comes on (like those phone ladies at Lands End or LL BEan) and takes your info & fills out the form with you! One Tip: They'll send you a Contract with all the features ... have them send a print-out as well as onlilne -- the online can be v errrrry lengthy.

Medicare and Medicare advantaage plans do n ot operate outside the USA

Here is the clause for my United Healthcare Plan F supplement:

Foreign Travel Medical Emergency Care – UnitedHealthcare will pay benefits, to the extent not covered by Medicare, for 80% of the billed charges for Medicare Eligible Expenses for hospital, physician and medical care received in a foreign country due to a Medical Emergency, if such care would have been covered by Medicare if provided in the United States. Such care must begin during the first 60 consecutive days of each Trip outside the United States.

An excerpt from the post I linked to earlier:

...buy a Medicare supplement policy that covers you worldwide for urgent and emergency care. My Medicare Advantage plan has this coverage.

One must check their individual coverage and if it exists, determine whether they are comfortable with it, or whether additional coverage is prudent. While Medicare plans may not "operate" outside the US, it appears they will reimburse you for eligible expenses incurred.

Ah... thanks for the correction. I should have said the more moderate-rate Medicare policies do not have coverage abroad. For those who can travel multiple times per year, this may well be worthwhile. Since I can only afford one trip, I have found it more economical for me to take the moderate Medicare option, and then buy a one-off coverage via Insure My Trip.
