Luggage Storage in Athens

I was wondering if there was luggage storage, either at the airport, in the city or the port?

Thanks,

Mary

Pacific Travel at the Athens Airport offers luggage storage. That dropoff point is at the far end of the Arrivals Hall near Door #1. They also used to have a luggage storage facility at 26 Nikis Street near Syntagma Square in Central Athens. I have no idea if it's still there or not. The storage lockers at the Monastiraki Metro Station are no longer available.

Mary,

Another options is to leave your luggage at the hotel you plan to stay in. I'd suggest contacting the hotel & asking if this is possible.

We've done this in Italy & Greece.

We left our luggage at a hotel in Piraeus (port) for over a week (free of charge) while we traveled to the islands,
then stayed at the same hotel for one more night prior to heading to the airport the following day.

Leaving luggage at a hotel where you are booked would always be my first choice. Rick's guidebook also mentions lockers at Piraeus metro station and at Piraeus cruise ship terminal A, as well as the possibility of making a deal with a travel agency near the port.

There are certainly large lockers at Monastiraki metro station.

As other people suggest though the best bet is probably to leave stuff at a hotel if you are using the same one on the way in and out. I think this is quite normal practice but you could always mail them to check if you want to be certain.

Alan, BrotherLee says those Monastiraki lockers are no longer available, and he keeps up to date on things like that...

I hadn't noticed that in Lee's response, so thanks.

It's odd as they were definitely there when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

Either they've been withdrawn since or they were moved and are now back. Or maybe they are still there but not in use for some reason? I didn't actually use them while we were there.

My information is more than 2 weeks old, so perhaps they've been re-installed, or perhaps they've been deactivated somehow but never removed.

I think maybe apologies are in order! Having said I 'definitely' saw them I now wonder if I just assumed they were there because they always had been. The more I think about it the less I can actually envisage them! In fact the more I think about it the less sure I am either way.

I'm back in Athens in March and will check, if only for my own piece of mind. Meanwhile apologies again if I've been over confident in my memory. The one thing I should remember is the mind can play tricks sometimes!

Athens Lockers is not IN the Monastiraki Station, but they are very close by, just across the street from the main entrance on the corner of Ermou and Athinas Streets.

Thanks - I just googled the directions from our hotel. If the hotel won't store our luggage, I will try that.

Not wanting to beat this to death, but I was in Monistiraki Thursday evening. There are still storage lockers in the ticket hall but most have 'out of order' signs. I don't think I'd be tempted to trust those without signs. My guess is they've lost their signs rather than they are working :-)
