Our trip to Greece is going to start in Crete and we plan to take the overnight ferry from Piraeus port to Chania, which leaves at 9pm (21:00). I understand that we can put our luggage on the ship around 6pm (18:00). However, it looks like we are going to arrive in Athens at the airport around 1:30pm in the afternoon. Even after customs & the taxi ride to the port, I think there will be at least 2-3 hours (I have calculated 1.5-2 hours from arrival to the port) between.
Does anyone know if there is a place we can store or advance check our luggage? I have read on Trip Advisor there are lockers at the port but we may have at least one large suitcase with us that I'm not sure will fit in a locker.
Any suggestions? (or does anyone know the size of the lockers?) Thanks.
I once had a situation such as this... I had 2.5 hours, & wanted to go to the Piraeus Museum. I went to a ticket agency and bought my ticket for the ferry. Then I asked if I could stow my large bag there (it had nothing valuable in it... just clothes, books etc). They had a pile of bags stacked behind a row of seats. I put mine underneath the rest, and carried my shoulder bag (with my $, phone, tx, camera, snacks) to the museum. Coming back it was right where I put it. If you've already got your ticket, maybe you could shyly ask, do you have an facility to hold a bag for 2 hours? And hold out a 5€ note. I'm sure they'll fix you up. Ask for it to be behind a counter if you are worried.
This last link has a typo ... el should be en that would bring up the page in English. https://leaveyourluggage.gr/en/ VEry helpful for people who want to leave luggage in Central Athens by Syntagma -- but the Original poster wants luggage storage at Pireaus. A google search i just did produces a useful Trip Advisor thread that notes several travel agencies that provide luggage storage:

Roseanne, on questions like this, try google first, & if there's nothing, then try us. On the other hand, if you do ask a forum (as the Trip adviser querier also did), the answers will help a large readership. As always, a thanks keeps us going.
