Lost bag at Athens airport

Hi- I love Athens but my bag was lost- I would never take Air Canada especially again as they were delayed and caused us to miss connecting flight on Lufthansa, Can any one recommend how to get a bag -I feel like Im back? We are going in circles and now they are saying my bag wasnt loaded on the airplane. Im getting a real run around and here for 3 weeks... Any suggestions greatly appreciated, Thanks!

So when did you arrive?

If your bag was not loaded it might be on the next flight

We arrived yesterday and I got a notice that it would be on next flight but now baggage claim said it wasnt on the next flight. So lost over 24 hrs now. Baggage claim said they dont know when it will arrive, but they would call and email but not optimistic.

What does Air Canada say? Has it been longer than 24 hrs? Have you filed a report with Air Canada (or perhaps your connecting flight to Athens was on Lufthansa metal? Was it unloaded at your connecting airport?

Edit: Sorry I was typing as you were. The airport lost and found/baggage office may be your best bet. Make sure you have a telephone number for them and you can proactively call to check. Some airports do a great job of contacting you if and when it arrives and some don’t.

The airline will have a record of the last place they made a record of (which may not be where it is). It’s a place to start.

Meanwhile, you buy what you absolutely have to have and keep enjoying your trip! (I spent my entire 10 day trip without my suitcase in Salzburg this summer. Lufthansa never knew where it was and the Salzburg airport office didn’t let me know when it arrived, but DID answer when I contacted them midway through my trip to ask.)

Call them daily. Ask how they can compensate you while you wait for your luggage to be located. Make a list of the items that were in your suitcase while it is fresh in your mind. Keep receipts of anything you buy.

My bag was once lost for 5 days; I did get it back but the airline never let me know how it went missing on a non-stop flight.

Which airline are you dealing with? I hope not Lufthansa as they have a lot of luggage problems to deal with lately.

My son and his family joined us in Switzerland last month, flying Delta from Seattle to New York to Zurich, and their 2 checked bags did not arrive. Delta told them they would be on the next flight, so they waited at the airport for hours instead of coming to our Mürren apartment, but it did not show up. The AirTag showed it was in Paris.

Over the next five days we watched the AirTag as the bag moved toward Mürren, but never made it there and returned to Zurich. We left Mürren on Day 5 for our next destination, near Luzern, and my son was finally able to get through on the phone to Delta and give them our next address at a hotel.. They said it would be delivered that day but it was not.

On Day 6, the last day they will attempt delivery before sending the bags back to their home airport, we went to Luzern to sightsee and then shop for replacement clothes (they had not bought any yet but just did laundry every night). I suggested we have lunch before shopping just to give more time for some progress. Just as we were finishing lunch, they checked their phones and saw the AirTag in Luzern, about 4 blocks away! We quickly paid for lunch and tracked down the courier van parked by a hotel. The driver was surprised but glad to hand over the bags when he saw the paperwork they had.

The bags had 5 different luggage tags attached, chronicling their journey.

I hope you get yours soon.

Thank you all so much. We are trying to love our trip. No bag yet but difficult reaching for assistance. We flew Air Canada and Lufthansa.
