We are driving from Meteora to Olympia in June and I am looking for a place to stop for the evening in between - maybe closer to Olympia than Meteora so we can get to Olympia first thing in the morning. Looking for something on the water with character. Any recommendations? I was looking at Patras but was wondering if there were other smaller port villages that might be fun to see. Thanks for the help!
I haven't been there, but Matt Barrett seems to like Nafpaktos, which is before you'd cross the Gulf of Corinth to get to Patras.
We’ve been to Nafpaktos several times, most recently last September, and really like it. It has a nice harbour, an impressive castle, good beaches and some good tavernas.
Having said that I don’t think it fits the OP’s criteria. It’s a two hour drive to Olympia. Might be worth noting for lunch on the drive down though?

Thank you both for the information. We have decided to arrive late to Olympia and stay in Nafpaktos. It looks beautiful and worth it!
