Logistics question: Athens airport xfer

Hello Travelers,

My family (4) is planning on arriving in Athens at 10:45pm on Sept 15th and catching Ryanair to Santorini immediately afterwards. The last flight is 11:15pm. Is it reasonable to think we can catch this flight? I'd like to purchase this flight ASAP so I appreciate your advice.

Kind regards,
Jewels

30 minutes to get out of the plane, find out which gate your departing flight is leaving from, go there, and be there 20 minutes before departure. Personally I wouldn't dare. What if your arriving flight is late?

No. There are too many variables. Unless that 30 minutes starts when your feet are on the ground, unless your flight arrives exactly on time and your inbound airline is partnered with Ryanair so your luggage is automatically transferred (unlikely with only a 30-minute window), and unless you have your Ryanair boarding passes in hand and you don't have to go through customs and passport control, 30 minutes is definitely not enough time. Even if all you have is carry-on luggage, you won't make it.

Stupid me! I read that time wrong. It gets in at 20:45 which actually is 8:45pm so that should be fine, right? (To catch an 11:15pm) shuttle to Santorini.

Yes, that's plenty of time. Good for you to figure that out!

If you are not familiar with Ryan Air, be sure to carefully read their rules before your flight. Two of the most important:

Carry-on bags are restricted in dimensions and weight. If you're unsure, it's best to pay for a checked bag when you make your reservation, rather than take a chance on them forcing you to check it at the gate, for twice as much (50 euros vs 25 euros).

And be sure to print out your RyanAir boarding passes before you leave home. They charge extra to print them at the airport.
