lodging suggestions needed Athens Sept 19th

Hi,
I need help finding a hotel in Athens. Since most of the central hotels are full, I'm looking for a hotel near the subway in a walkable, residential neighborhood. An area with restaurants and coffee shops would be perfect.
Thanks.

For a very basic inexpensive hotel just a bit further up the street from Attalos see if Cecil hotel has any rooms.

Another question are you using a booking engine to search for hotels. Most hotels do not give all their rooms to booking companies. If you find a hotel you are interested in send them an e mail and see if there are any rooms available often there are.

You didn't say when you would be there . . . that could help with suggestions. Also your budget.

We always stay at the Attalos Hotel on Athinas St., one of the best budget accommodations in Athens with a wonderful rooftop garden/bar with spectacular views of the Acropolis and the rest of Athens.

As a backup I would suggest Hotel Cecil, just up the street from the Attalos. A little below the Attalos for quality but still fine. It's cheaper and the price includes breakfast whereas the Attalos charges for their breakfast.

I'm sure there are a number of other accommodations that are good but the above two are my to-go-to hotels when in Athens.

And I also agree that it's best to deal directly with the hotel rather than a third-party agent. You'll probably get a better deal and customer service.

Check the Omiros Hotel on Apollonos Street. It's inexpensive, on a quiet back street, and it's just a few minutes' walk from both the Plaka district and the Syntagma Square Metro station. There's a rooftop terrace but you have to ask for the key.

We liked the Hotel Phillippos. Nice people, nice breakfast, our room had a balcony. On a quiet residential street just a few minutes walk to Acropolis. Restuarants, ATM etc nearby. We stayed several nights and would return with no hesitation.
