Lesvos Island

I plan to visit Lesvos in May. I aim to fly from Athens to Mytilini, arriving in the afternoon. My stay on the island will be 4 or 5 days. I would like to spend a couple of days in Molyvos. After my stay in Lesvos I plan to go to Chios by ferry.
I don’t intend to rent a car, so I have to rely on local buses.
My questions deal with the best way to do this.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Lesvos is one of my favorite islands. I highly recommend that you start by taking a taxi from the airport to Votsala hotel, which is just
north of Mytilene, along the sea.

You will find a warm welcome, a comfortable sea-view room, and wonderful breakfasts under the olive trees by the sea. You will find plenty to do here without needing transportation. There is a small port about a 5-minute walk, with two tavernas serving delicious Greek dishes and freshly-caught fish. You can also walk to a thermal bath or take a stroll through the olive groves. The beach is pebbly (not sand) but offers free beach toys (kayaks, etc) and sunbeds. There’s an archeological dig (the prehistoric city of Thermi) a short walk away, with construction dating to the Early Bronze Age. The gregarious owner, Iannis, offers guided excursions— check when you arrive to see what if any are scheduled.

When you’re ready to move on, you can catch a bus just outside the hotel entrance to take you to Molyvos. Here I’d recommend the Sea Horse Hotel, right on the harbor. Ask for a harbor view room. Molyvos has a 13th century fortress to explore, and a great thermal bath nearby at Eftalou.

You can catch the bus again to take you back to Mytilene for your ferry to Chios.
