Lefkada, GREECE - we will have a rental car - suggestions ?

Hi ALL - The query is around what to do around Lefkada, GREECE...

the trip is around the corner...Leaving JUNE 15 flying to Athens and driving to Lefkada, GREECE
Hub and I are staying at Mimosa Estate is situated in Nydri on Lefkada Island, Greece. for 7 days - starting June 17
We will have a rental car -the entire tiem that we are there. ( I did buy Ricks 6th edition GREECE book ...)

This is a wellness- yoga retreat - I do plan to do daily yoga but have all afternoon and evenings open The trip includes Chef catering daily meals: brunch, afternoon snack and dinner al fresco= but we are OK to skip a meal or two to get out & explore

WHAT IS A MUST SEE IN THIS REGION - we love the water :)

If you are beach and sea lovers, go to the west side of the island.

Still on the west coast, go to the fishing village of Agios Nikitas.

You are going to have a blast. Lefkada is so beautiful.

Of time permits, I would recommend a boat tour on the MS Christina from Nidri. It takes a full day however.

You don't want to miss out on Porto Katsiki. Egremnoi is spectacular too, but be wary of the endlesa staircase down to the beach.

Other beaches that are 100% worth your time are Kathysma, Ag. Giannis, Milos and many others. If you can spend at least one night in Lefkada town at a place such as Ef Zhin, followed by an evening stroll through the cute streets.

There are some of the most famous beaches in Greece on Lefkada, mostly on the west side.

There are tons of amazing places on the island and others will chime in on those but I have a handful of tips.

First, from Nydri there is a local guy who rents motor boats. I would consider doing that. You can anchor in all kinds of coves and inlets with perfect water for swimming and dock in Desimi for lunch.

Second, despite all the famous beaches, my favorite one in Lefkada is Kathisma Beach in the northwest of the island. That's where the locals go. Porto Katsiki is worth a visit and you could make one long day of visiting both and maybe finishing for dinner in Agios Nikitas or Vassilliki, depending on whether you go clockwise or anti-clockwise.

Sivota is a charming town on the south coast and the main Lefkada town is hopping.
