Lake Vouliagmeni?

We have four and a half days in Athens. We are coming from 8 days on Naxos, so will have spent some quality time at the beach.

We plan to sightsee and shop in Athens on three and a half days as well as an evening trip to Cape Sourion.

On our last day in Athens we currently have unplanned and we are considering a trip to Lake Vouliagmeni. I am thinking we would plan to be there by 10:30 and stay for four hours, which would give us time back in Athens that evening.

Any thoughts on doing this on a free day? We will be there the last week of June, so thinking hitting up some water and relaxing for a bit would be good. We don't want to travel much longer that 30-40 min or so out of town.

Is there a recommended taxi company to use for this?

Lake Vouliagemni is just a pretty little natural spot transformed into a paid tourist attraction for Instagram photo lovers.
Why would you pay a lot for a taxi and waste even an hour of your vacation to go there?

The surrounding area is mainly a series of luxury international resorts, like those with security guards at the entrance, along a major highway (I took this road a few days ago).

However, note that you can get there by taking the tram from Syntagma Square to the Asklipiio Voulas terminus, then bus 115 to the lake. Cost of the trip: €1.20

If you're looking for a peaceful, natural setting not too far from the center of Athens, I suggest for example taking a taxi to the Kaisariani Monastery.
