Kissifou Bus Station to Piraeus

It seems there is no bus from the main bus station in Athens, Kissifou that goes direct to Piraeus. Seems odd since Piraeus is the main port to get to many of the Greek Islands.

Any idea what would be the easiest and most convenient way to get from Kissifou to Piraeus and what would the cost be?

I know a taxi would be the most convenient but I would guess the most expensive.

The 51 bus takes you just under Omonia Square and then you can get the green line down to Piraeus.

I’ve also walked to Eleonas metro station which is 25 minutes or so but not a particularly nice walk: partly along the main ring road and then along a road with no pavement. You the. Have to change at Monastiraki.

Where are you coming in from? Some buses eg Nafplio, Nafpaktos, Patras stop at the metro before they get to Kissifou.

Last I knew the Taxi fare was about €14. Not cheap but also fast. The local bus does not stopat the station, it is blocks away, in a grungy neighborhood full of auto repair shops and junkyards.

I would think 14 euros is a bit of an underestimate. In October it cost 12 from the Attalos which is quite a bit closer. That was on a Sunday morning with almost no traffic.

There’s now a 51 stop in the bus station itself. Across to the right as you emerge from the ticket hall / cafe area. There’s even a little booth selling tickets. It’s the same stop as the express to the airport uses.

Another thought: you can probably get a quote from someone like Welcome Pickup. I’ve only ever used them from the airport but there fares are competitive for that trip. Even if you don’t use them it would give you a ballpark figure.

Sounds like a taxi would be the most convenient and the cost is reasonable. Normally I take the Metro from Monistiraki but since the bus station is not even close to that it looks like a taxi.
