Itinerary Review

Hello! I would love an opportunity to have the experts here review our itinerary. The trip is in less than a month and everyone on the forum is so helpful with suggestions! Would love any tips, recommendations, or tricks! All hotels/flights are already booked.
We arrive in Athens late afternoon and will spend the night, then morning flight to Santorini for three nights. Ferry to Naxos for three nights. Flight back to Athens, and Athens for three nights. Rent a car and drive to Delphi for 1 night. Drive to Olympia for 1 night. Drive to Nafplio for three nights. Drive to airport, drop the car rental, and catch noon flight outbound.

The only things I haven't booked are hotel transfers, tours (all recommendations SO welcome on what's worth a tour), the ferry from Santorini to Naxos and the car rental (would love any hot tips on car rental!!). Thanks everyone - we are so excited to explore.

Regarding the Athens-Delphi-Olympia portion of the trip, since you've already booked everything, I hope you'll enjoy spending more time driving on small mountain roads than sightseeing the places you're going to.

For the rental car, I suggest picking it up in Athens instead of wasting almost an hour traveling to pick it up at the airport. Especially since you'll have to leave early for Delphi if you want to enjoy it, and the next day you'll also have to leave early for Olympia to visit it quickly, because the next day you'll be driving back to Nafplio.

(just thinking about it makes me exhausted) LOL

More positively, all the car rental companies are concentrated in the same area in Athens, on Siggrou Avenue. To give you an idea, it's located right next to the Acropolis Museum.

It's on this part of the avenue:

I often rent with Capital Rent a Car. (They only have Fords, because the owner's brother runs a Ford dealership.)
I've always been satisfied (and so have many other travelers).
To go to the Peloponnese, I rented a Ford Puma SUV Hybrid, which was very good for the winding roads.

The same model for 6 days in mid September costs around €190 with a pickup in town and a drop-off at the airport.

It's up to you, look for other rental companies if you don't like this one. I don't do business with them.

Super helpful tip JoLui! I wondered about picking up in Athens and dropping at the airport! Thanks for answering that question for me! Yes, it's a lot of driving but we really want to see some of the interior land of Greece, and although it will be a whirlwind, hope to get a different taste of the country, and see less touristy areas. Even if only from a car.
