Insurance advice

I will be traveling for around 3 weeksgreece: in Athens then onwards to karpathos and rhodes. I will be renting a car for day trips in both islands and probably a day trip to delphi (although i might take the bus). Do you recommend i but travelers insurance that covers rental cars or should i buy the insurance when from the car rental agencies?

Any advice is appreciated. Also, i have heard it is better to drive to delphi yourself than take the tour bus because you can avoid the crowds a bit more but I'm not sure. Any advice about which agencies are safest to use and if i should book well in advance would also be welcome

You have to specify if you are American and have access to free credit card insurance. If not then either purchased insurance will work, just if it's a third party then bring the policy with you.

Although I have great car insurance in the US, and am covered by credit card insurance as well, I prefer to get the rental company's policy. Costs more, but I don't want the hassle of quotes, paying then hoping for reimbursement, and post trip issues with correspondence that will not end.

Yes I'm from the USA. O don't think i have a free credit card insurance. Was thinking of getting a "travel insurance" for medical etc but some have rental car options so was trying to decide which was more economic.
