I apologize in advance if this has been answered (I'm sure it has and I just can't seem to find it). My family and I are planning to do the Imerovigli-Oia hike (we are staying in Imerovigli). We only want to do one way and would like to take the bus either to Oia or from Oia. It does not matter which way to us.
I am confused about the bus situation in Imerovigli. It is my understanding that we could take the bus TO Oia as it stops from Fira on the way to Oia but not going the reverse way? Is this correct? I also read in a post that we could tell the bus driver to stop at the Imerovigli stop on the way back to drop us instead of continuing down to Fira. Is this accurate?
I have done a lot of research on the bus situation in Santorini... we are actually renting a car for the majority of our stay, but this is a situation where I think we need the bus. After all the research, I'm still unclear. Help!

There are 2 buses involved. The bus to and from Oia originates in Fira and does not stop in Imerovigli. There is a bus from Fira that stops in Firostefani and Imerovigli, then returns to Fira. Since you're staying in Imerovigli, it makes more sense to hike to Oia and then take the bus back from Oia to Fira to catch the bus to Imerovigli.

You may wish to hike from Imerovigli to Fira instead. It is downhill in that direction and the scenery along the coast is spectacular. We really enjoyed that hike.
