Thanks...been at the site...looking for “personal “ experiences
Our favorite restaurants in Oia, Santorini were Petrosia, Pelekanos, and Oia Gefsis which had a sunset view on the upper terrace. The food and views at all three were great! If you wish to go for dinner make a reservation. Lunchtime you can walk up. In Oia we enjoyed a morning walk on the promenade with lovely caldera views and also walking down side streets to see the blue domed churches and the ruins of Oia Castle. One morning we took the bus from Oia toward Fira and asked the bus driver to drop us off in Imerovigli and then we walked the cliff walk or rimside walk downhill from Imerovigli to Firostefani to Fira. The views are spectacular. The church of the 3 bells in Firostefani is postcard pretty. Another day we took the bus to Akrotiri to see the archeological ruins there which were fascinating. We were in Santorini from a Friday to a Monday in May and we loved it. I hope you have a fabulous time!

Visit ancient Akrotiri and Amoudi Bay. We only returned to Santorini to see Akrotiri when it reopened after the 2005 accident, roof collapse that killed tourists.
Will second the suggestion for Akritori. Absolutely fascinating. I'd recommend a guided tour to the get most out of it.
If Santorini doesn’t do something to control the number of cruise ships that arrive in it’s harbors, then the island will be an even more impossible place to visit. It was already crowded on our first trip there, almost fifteen years ago.
The cruisers do not spend the big bucks like overnight visitors do but are causing a lot of harm.
we stayed 6 days in Santorini and enjoyed every minute of it. we watched the famous sunset, went down to Amoudi Bay and jumped from the cliffs. we went to Black Beach and Red Beach. Aktitori was another visit. we hiked from Oia to Fira. we were there in August so it was a bit more busy. taxi's are very limited so plan accordingly. you can do a wine tour as well.
Hi coachschue, I visited Santorini this summer having had it on my bucket list for years! I researched it thoroughly then loved it so much I started writing about it! The ancient Akrotiri site in the far south of the island is the last of the Minoan civilisation and is similar to Pompeii - it was covered in lava when the volcano erupted. It is hard to explain how incredible it is to walk through the streets of a city 3600 years old. You can read more about what I've written about it here https://www.tripanthropologist.com. You can also read there what might be the world's best hike - and that's a big call! The walk along the cliff-top caldera villages from Fira to Oia is breath takingly beautiful. Finally, you can also read there about sailing around Santorini (especially at sunset). These three things will make your trip an incredible one. Good luck
Two days isn't much. Try to get up early to see Fira and Oia when they are less crowded. Walk from Fira towards Oia. Some people do the whole walk but I've only done about an hour or so but it was great. Try to get to one of the inland villages. Much different - also much less crowded.
