Hydra rooms

I'm arriving in Hydra 1st May and see that room prices are higher than other islands ie Poros.
anybody got any recommendations for clean, quiet guest houses handy for the Port?

I've never stayed on the island as I've always done a day trip so can't help with accommodations.

Unfortunately just about anywhere on the island will be high price.

It may also depend on what you want for accommodations but regardless expect to pay a premium.

More importantly what is your budget?

You can check here for accommodations:

Poros can be a wonderful option to Hydra as it also has a nice waterfront and uphill you'll find classic Cyclades Architecture.

More options for accommodations and more in line with budget friendly travelers plus there's a lot more to do on the island.

Try Airbnb or booking.com.

We stayed at Hydra Kirki and were very happy with it. Close to the port (and restaurants), clean, not expensive, and the people who ran it were very nice.

I'm arriving in Hydra 1st May

I would be very surprised if you can get to Hydra or on any other island on May 1st, given that it is traditionally a day when ferry sailors are on strike.

The one we stayed at (and can recommend) is Alkionides Pension (https://www.alkionidespension.com/). Its not on the water, but just a two minute walk away. It has a nice courtyard with lemon trees, and our room had a large patio with a view over the village.

The one we want to try next time is Hotel Sophia, right on the waterfront.

Also have to recommend our favourite restaurant experience in all of Europe - Xeri Elia Douskos (near Alkionides). Fresh fish, outdoor seating, live music, very inexpensive.
