We are thinking about going on a day trip to Hydra or staying a night or two there at the end of our trip before heading back to Rafina to spend the night before we fly home. We are spending two nights in Athens and then 7 nights between Argos and Nafplion, in Argolida in a house. My question is, if we drive down to Ermoni with our rental car can we park it there for a night or two or is it just day parking for the shuttles to Hydra? We've been to this area of Greece before, but have never been to Hydra. We are trying to decide between a day trip and an overnighter. We have 5 of us in our party.

I can't answer your specific question about parking, but oh gosh its sad thinking about not staying overnight in Hydra. Hydra was our favourite place in Greece. Can recommend hotel, Pensione Alkionides (https://www.alkionidespension.com/); and highly recommend restaurant Xeri Elia Douskos (no website, but if you Google it, you'll find it). Great food under shade trees in a quiet square, with Greek music; two of us ate and drank for EUR 35.

Thank you for the Hydra recommendations. We would love to stay overnight if we could figure out what to do with our rental car, but a day trip might be the best we can do. I hope we can try that restaurant.

I just googled this subject and found out in Metochi there is a secure parking lot that charges 5 euros per day. So I guess I answered my own question. If anyone wants to chime in on whether they used this or not, please do.

I went ahead and booked a great looking townhouse for 2 nights on Hydra. Thanks for the encouragement and I'm looking forward to eating at the restaurant you both recommended.
