Hello! I am looking to travel to Greece in June. I have an outline of what islands to pop to, but would love flexibility if inspired to stay at one place longer, try a different island than planned, etc.
Will this approach work with traveling to Greece in June, or is it recommended that I book weeks/months in advance due to the busy season picking up? Thank you!
Usually you can always find a place to stay, but the days of locals waiting for tourists at the port when the ferry arrives with their "Room to let" signs are over.
That being said you can still do what we did 30 years ago and like some travelers still do, take your backpack, go to an island, rent a scooter and explore the island in search of a place to sleep. (remember that wilderness camping is prohibited in Greece)
