I’m going to be traveling to Santorini, Naxos and Paros in July. How far in advance should I buy ferry tickets? Is it better to get it from a specific company in case of cancellations/delays that I would have a ticket from a certain company?
There are many travel agents on each of these islands where you can purchase tickets. We normally wait until a couple of days before we sail before we buy the tickets. The agents will have up to date information on weather and the best ferry to take.
Our experience is from May June or September October so in July the ferries might be busier in high season.
I always buy my tickets as I go along when island hopping. But when you want to book them in advance do so with the ferry company you will be travelling with. In case of an unforeseen cancellation it will be much easier than dealing/communicating with a 3rd party ticketbroker.
An advantage with buying tickets in local ticket offices as you go along is that you just can pop in to the ticket office to change your ticket without communication issues.
When you are booking ahead for travel in July to Santorini, Paros and Naxos I would say that a few weeks in advance is enough.
