Planning on 4 nights in the Chania area and 3 nights closer to Heraklion. Would prefer luxury hotel, adult only. Will have a car so can drive into town. Rather be nearer the water. Would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.

For Heraklion look at the GDM Megaron. On the water. Near the port. It was incredibly friendly, upscale, easy parking. Make sure you get a harbor view room. Even has a lovely rooftop swimming pool. Walking distance to everything including the Archaeological museum.

Have a look in the old port. The hotels by the water are usually upper class and in a great location!
