Hotel or AirBnB?

I will be visiting Santorini, Naxos and possibly Mykonos with my 2 adult daughters in mid June. We'd ideally like to spend no more than $200/night for accommodations. We're open to a hotel or AirBnB/VRBO. Just want to be conveniently located (we won't have a car) and safe. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

How long is each stay? I wouldn’t go through the hassles of renting an apartment for a short stay.
Use hotels for shorter stays and AirBnB for longer stays.

On Naxos, we stayed at Hotel Grotta, a recommendation from a RS guide. It was up on a hill overlooking Apollo’s Temple, the sea and a ten minute walk to town. Wonderful breakfasts, nice rooms and the owners were very helpful and friendly.

I also agree, we always go for hotels for short stays.

We have booked Iliada Sunset Suites in Naxos, which is virtually next door to Hotel Grotta.

I have friends who stayed in Grotta and loved it, and all the reviews are excellent, but to me the rooms are too small, we like a bit of space.

Iliada gives all the benefits of Grotta with a bit more room for a couple who like space.

With three of you you might like the space too.

Obviously I haven't stayed there yet, we are going in October, but the staff at Iliada have been incredibly helpful answering every question quickly and succintly.

In Santorini we've booked Santorini View Studios, again a small hotel. It is in Firostefani, with caldera views, but hopefully slightly out of the madding crowds of Oia and Fira iteself.

Many years ago 3 of us stayed at IIlada Studios -- as "overflow booking" of Grotta, so we had the best of both worlds... nice terrace in front of our unit -- and b reakfasts at Grotta. Not sure if Iliada offers breakfasts now, but units have kitchenettes, coffeemakers etc ... so you can manage by a bit of shopping at bakery or local shops... then you can enjoy breakfast in your Pj's.

Firostephani is what I call the "goldielocks" choice in caldera-view locations... lovely views along the rimside wall, an easy walk to the attractions of FIRA, yet away from the hubbub... the tour busses going to OIA drive right by, You can avoid the "Sunset madness" mob scene at OIA, dine with view in a Firostephani cafe like this - https://santorinidave.com/santorini-restaurant-remvi -- also visit, right by rimside wall, the Oldest Taverna in Santorini, Aktaion... used to be drop-in, now good to reserve, but SO traditional & welcoming. PS: to see OIA without huge crowd crush, do one splurge and book taxi to go there at 8 AM - then u will have 2 hours before the cruise ship army invades.
