Hotel in Chania? Help. please!

My husband and I are planning a week in Crete, following what I know will be a wonderful - but exhausting - trip through Romania and Bulgaria. Based on reviews here and elsewhere, we've chosen Chania as our final destination - and are looking for a lovely hotel where we can get a quiet nights sleep. with a good restaurant, a nice pool, a sea view and access to transportation into town.

I've narrowed the hotel search to three -- the Ammos, Royal Sun and Carinna Mare. In a perfect world, we would try to get a suite as my husband tends to get up in the middle of the night and these three have suites and apartments. I'd very much appreciate thoughts on these choices - or others you think we should consider.

A million thanks!!

Stayed at the quiet & well-run Pandora Suites in Chania in 2013, following the RS Greece tour. Spacious apartment with balcony overlooking the harbor (behind/above the small mosque), great breakfast buffet on the roof terrace, 545 Euros for five nights. Many restaurants nearby, good holes-in-the-wall, supermarket, municipal market. One of our favorite memories is of eating take-out on our balcony, watching the sun set into the sea & Chania's nightlife commence, with our bed & bathroom 15' away.

I agree that Pandora is wonderful... but the one missing item is a pool. That is next to impossible to get IN Chania Old Town... crooney, Old Towns weren't built with pools in mind, and the beauty of Chania's Old Town is that historic buildings have not been pulled down to accommodate Luxury "international Style" hotels with pools.

However, IF you can book a room at Ammos, you almost have your cake & eat it too! It is ON a beach WITH a pool, and on the inland side of the hotel, a local-bus stop that takes you the 2+ miles or so right into the heart of Chania. A chef offering authentic Cretan cuisine if you want to dine on premises. Amenities & locale you'd associate only with 5* hotels, but at quite moderate rates. What's not to love?!?!? Only hitch -- I think it only has about 20-30 rooms and for some dates, books up a year in advance. If availability for your dates (which you do not mention) - I say BOOK it. Other people praise Corinna Mare, which is just a bit farther out, also on the beach & with a pool, also on the local bus route. Good luck!

BTW, you get the best advice when you give your exact dates.

Many thanks to you both! I'd considered the Pandora but, yes, we do want a pool. So, I just booked the Ammos and look forward to a lovely respite. It does pay to plan early as we actually had a choice of rooms! So, so pleased!

We're going in late September - yes, I know that I'm planning a bit early but I enjoy the planning process almost as much as the actual trips! Besides, it's wonderful to dream when the wing is churning the trees and cold is seeping in...
