Hotel in Athens (Plaka?) for Family

Hi,
We are heading to Athens and a few Cyclades Islands in early June. We are hoping to find a good clean affordable hotel with a family room for a family of 4 that is in walking distance to the many of the major sites. We have 2 boys who will be ages 10 & 12. It would be nice to have a buffet breakfast or some breakfast on site at the hotel. We are not sure how hot it will be but since we live in San Francisco we would like air conditioning. Thanks for any suggestions.

Best,
Suzanne

Look at Attalos hotel. It pretty much meets all your needs.

Thank you very much. Have you stayed at this hotel? Is it reasonably quiet at night? Best, Suzanne

We stayed at the Plaka Hotel quite a while ago but it still looks pretty good to me. It has a roof top bar for Acropolis views. 3 star.

We stayed at the Attalos in 2008 and it was great.

I've stayed at the Attalos many times over the years. It's clean, safe and close to everything one goes to Athens for. It has one of the better rooftop bars/gardens with spectacular views of the Acropolis and the rest of the city. Nothing fancy but a good option. There is in-room heat and AC. Breakfast is an extra charge or just go to local markets/bakeries and get fresh baked goods at much lower cost.

There is a large number of accommodations in a wide variety of budgets. I'm not sure what your budget is so that may help with recommendations.

I’m with Tommy on this. We always stay in the Attalos if we are only in Athens for a night or two. We were there last week and it was comfortable as always. It is fairly quiet anyway but if that’s a concern it might be worth asking for a room higher up.

We usually stay in apartments but on one trip we just had one night in Athens before heading out to Nafplio the next AM. So we stayed at Adam’s Hotel.

Basic but good, nice location in Plaka. Had a large family room for 4 (hard to find!), a good breakfast, and a top floor terrace with views of the Acropolis.

We also liked the Plaka Hotel. Nice roof top terrace with great view of the Acropolis and this area has lots of good restaurants. Breakfast was a huge buffet with lots of choices.

Last August we went to Greece for a month, we spend a week in Athens with our 5 year old and 7 year old. We stayed at the Achilles Hotel in Plaka. It was excellent, clean and breakfast included. It is walking distance from EVERYTHING. We walked everywhere with our little girls. The hotel is small but the staff is extremely helpful. its clean and very affordable. The breakfast is awesome. On our last day in Athens we had to leave super early for the ferry to Mykonos and they had the full breakfast ready just for us. highly recommended.
