We planned to fly into Athens on May 1, 2024 and, following a suggestion in Greece: Athens & the Peloponnese, immediately take a ferry to Hydra to decompress for a few days. When I've checked a few ferry schedule locators, I get a result saying there are no ferries available on May 1. Googling, I find that May 1 is Labor Day, a national holiday, and I'm inferring that that's the reason for the apparent lack of availability. Is it really possible that there will be no ferry service at all on that day? Or is it possible that a modified holiday schedule might become available?
May 1, Labor Day, is usually a ferry strike day.
However, given that this year the Easter celebrations take place during the first week of May, May 1st will fall on Holy Wednesday.
As a result, the Greek Minister of Labor decided to move this holiday to May 7.

It is very likely that in terms of ferry strike, May 7 will replace May 1. but nothing has yet been announced by the unions or in the Greek press, therefore the reservation platforms still show May 1st as a day without ferries.
Thanks for this helpful and hopeful information!
