Hike from Fira to Oia

This is an IT question unless one of you has a better suggestion. I found great step-by-step directions for the Fira to Oia hike at the following website: https://santorinidave.com/fira-oia-hike
Does anyone know how to download this to an iPhone, so we can follow the instructions and not have to pay Internet charges while we do it. I hate to bother making a hard copy to carry along but will if I can't get it on my iPhone. Thanks in advance.

Edward,

If you access that file via your E-mail, you'll still be paying for data charges to access the website you've linked in the E-mail, unless you have WiFi available. The easiest solution would simply be to pay for a data plan, create a page in your Browser with that website, and then access that page when you need it.

If you absolutely don't want to pay for data charges, one method that may work (although the quality may not be the best) would be to print the document at home, scan every page using an App on your phone such as Turbo Scan, and then save in your phone as a PDF file. Having it on your phone will also allow you to E-mail the file (from WiFi areas) or print (I've never tried printing from my iPhone, so not sure how to do that?).

If you have Docs To Go you could also copy it and save it as a Word doc or PDF file there.

Hope this helps.

We walked from oia to Fira. There are signs along the way and frankly it is better marked going from Fira to oia since that is the most common way. There is one section where you have to walk in the road which can throw you but otherwise really simple.

The only other challenge may be figuring out where to begin in Fira. Was very simple in oia and of course we just arrived in Fira.

Thanks for your thoughts. Here is what worked.

I accessed the site on my iPhone here at home, so no extra expense. https://santorinidave.com/fira-oia-hike

I pressed the square with the arrow that lets you email it to anyone, in my case everyone taking the hike with me.

I open my email, and the entire description with color photos and descriptions is there. The entire blog post.

I then turned off cellular data and even put the iPhone in airplane mode. Because the email is already in the inbox, it is there to open and read without downloading additional data—therefore free, except for the power you use up when you look t it, which is why I want everyone on the hike to have it. That way we can switch off who has it open, so none of us lose all our iPhone power during the walk.

As long as cellular data remains turned off, you don't incur the added data charges you would incur if you accessed the website directly off the Internet in real time. You can still get texts or telephone calls using your data plan. In airplane mode, you can access already downloaded emails but can't get texts or telephone calls either.

I hope this clarifies it. Thanks for everyones' s input.

Edward,

It's good to hear that you've got the problem sorted. I wasn't sure if you were just sending the web link to your phone.

Hope you have a great trip!
