First I want to say thank you to everyone who takes the time to post on this forum. I think I've read every one about Naxos that helped me decide location and hotels to review. My husband and I are in our 60s, and going to Greece for the first time in May 2026 and will spend our final 4 nights on Naxos. I just booked at Kalergis Studios in a Double Studio, but now concerned about a few reviews (there's always a few I know) that say the place is dated, rooms need more light and bathroom showers are VERY tiny and worn. Do you think these inaccurate? As I look at pictures on their website, there are not too many of the bathrooms - are the all the same? I loved the ocean view over the garden (we love to sit on a balcony in am for coffee and pm for drinks). Also loved the relaxed beach vibe with the front beach bar and loungers (even if it's not warm enough to swim, we love to sit on the beach) and look forward to the lovely walk to town. If the room is fresh, clean, bright with an unobstructed ocean view - I'll be happiest. Does anyone have a recommended room, or floor (G, 1st, 2nd) for me - Perhaps I could make a request. Or any specific room to avoid AC noise, view blocked by trees, etc.
Strangely, I was also looking at the Nassiki Beach Hotel that is way more expensive but it looked to me from their pictures that the views from their balcony seating was not as good as a view at Kalergis - is this accurate or am I crazy? Although I could spring for this special treat, it did not seem like I needed to spend the money, as a larger shower would not make me happier. If anyone has any thoughts on my thinking, it is appreciated. Thank you.
I have been to Naxos but have not been to that particular hotel. I will tell you that the showers in Greece can be very small. I am always excited when they are not but it still is not something that weighs into my decision of where to stay.
That is what you have to decide. Assume the reviews are correct. Are the things that are supposedly negatives important to you? I always pay attention, for example, to discussions of noise as that is very important to me as a light sleeper. Somewhat worn accommodations and small showers are not deal breakers to me if other things like location are good. But if "fresh and bright" is integral to you liking a place then maybe not the right place for you.
Out of curiosity, I checked the Kalergis Studios website.
Generally, you shouldn't expect large bathrooms in accommodations like this one, located in the "city center." Besides, this one isn't officially in the hotel category but in the studio category. The rules are different. To find large bathrooms, it(s better to search outside Naxos Town where there's space to build larger houses.
It's true that the bathroom doesn't appear in the photos of the Double Studio (not necessarily a bad sign, but it's a clue). I've already seen this in a studio in Athens where everything was so crammed into the bathroom that you could literally go to the toilet, brush your teeth over the sink, and take a shower at the same time. Very efficient in terms of time saving. :)
However, a deal-breaker for me in this kind of small studio is seeing some photos with the refrigerator just one meter from the headboard . Anyone who's ever slept in those conditions, close to a refrigerator compressor, knows what I'm talking about...
Speaking of noise, I read a few reviews mentioning that the noise from the Vammos beach bar right in front of the hotel bothered some guests.
That's my two cents.
