I'm thinking of keeping things simple here and just following Rick's itinerary. Has anyone done it? If so, what difficulties , if any did you run into? What changes would you make? Thanks in advance.
I saw one report last Spring by someone who tried it, and reported feeling both rushed, and exhausted. A "vet" reminded this person, the big difference you forget is, the tour does all the work for you --- all the driving, the detailed knowledge about where to go, what to see, and explains it all, and where to eat, sleep, etc, the "short cuts" to gett somewhere. As a tour-taker, You just sit in the bus & enjoy, or snooze, and rest up between stops), don't have to make any arrangments, know any history, find a restaurant, or parking, or the best way to walk.
If you follow his itinerary, you would do the highlights -- BUT it would be wise to allow at least 50 % more time to cover the same ground. You also would miss out on aspects the tour decides to skip --- such as ANCIENT NEMEA en route to Nafplio... AND the vineyards nearby you can tour... and some of the beaches near Nafplio, if its beach weather. So yes, you could use the Itinerary as a starting point. NOTE it would also be useful to look up the exact tour dates OF the RS Peloponnese tour of the month you go... especially in Nafplio. that way you'll know what restaurant his group of 18 or so will be filling up all the outdoor tables at your favorite small taverna I ran intoo that in June 2019!
