Ground transfer from Athens airport to city center

We have a party of 8 adults (with several bags) needing ground transfers from the Athens airport to our hotel, not far from the Acropolis. Four of us are arriving in the morning, the others in the afternoon. I think we need to hire a minivan for each group of four. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Your hotel should provide guidance on this unless u wish to take the metro.

Do y ou mean EACH adult will have several full-size (20-21") bags? Or do you just mean one 21" checked bag, plus a sort of shoulder carry-on? Are you all "regular size" people or does it include some Plus sizes or ex-Footballers? The taxis are all Mercedes sedans and on several trips 4 of us (all women, granted) fitted in ... 3 in back seat 1 beside driver; all 4 rollaboard bags wedged into the luggage compartment & all of us held our carry-on shoulder-bags in our laps, and any other things undr our feet. No biggie.

2 car services praised on forums that charge the same flat-fee (€38) as the taxis in the taxi line... you have a resrvation and a driver stands at door where you emerge from customs/passport control, holding up a sign with your name. Both have English-speaking drivers, good reviews. one is https://www.welcomepickups.com other is https://citycab.gr/services/airport-transfer/ City cab on it s opening screen shows 3 vehicle options ... 1 is standard (1-4 psgrs), then 5-6 and 7-8. SImplifies things a lot!

I used Welcome Pickups last September and I was very pleased with their service.

Another vote for Welcome. Have used them several times in the last year.

Usually hotels have transfers. Be careful with taxi drivers in the airport. Ask them before you take if you select this solution.

Thank you all so much. We are staying in Athens at an AirBnB apartment for a few days before a cruise. We are arriving in Athens at different times so the apartment owner said either a cab or a van would be best. She has arranged a minibus to take us to our ship. We are "normal" sized but we each will have a large checked bag and probably a rolling carry on. I'll definitely check into the two suggested. I appreciate having recommendations from people who have used them.

We have used City Cab for our last few trips. Booking on their web site was easy and there response accepting the pick quick. We too stayed at a private apartment in a neighborhood. We needed the pick up at 5am for our early flight. At 10 to 5 there was the driver standing at our doorstep.
The drivers speak good English. The cars are large enough for 4 people. The price was identical to what the taxis charged. I would recommend them and will be using them again this summer.

Why not take public transportation? If everyone is able to handle their luggage, it's easy and fast to take the train into the city center.

If one has a checked bag ( 24"+) and a rolling carry on ( 20-21") I would not do the metro.

A cab would be a better choice.

City Cab does look like an excellent deal and the cost of 38 euros is standard fare for that time of day.

There are also a line of taxis waiting outside the arrivals area which will also provide you good service and at the 38 euros charge.

However, knowing ahead of time that there will be someone waiting for you is comforting.

Public transportation will be less expensive but since you are a group of people the cost of the 38 euros is a great deal per person broken down by 4 per trip.

I think City Cab sounds perfect!
