Greece & Turkey Tour Company

Hello everyone! I’m sure this has been asked before, but I’d love some updated recommendations. We’re a family of four with two kids (ages 15 and 6), and we’re looking for a tour company that covers both Greece and Turkey.

When we traveled to Africa, we found that a more private tour worked best for us — the age difference between our kids and the extra support made all the difference. I’m leaning toward booking with a specific company, but every time I look closer, I notice more things that aren’t included. I’m nervous about ending up with unexpected costs after booking.

If anyone has had a great experience with a company that was transparent and family-friendly, I’d really appreciate your suggestions!

AS I HAVE READ MORE POSTS…. Last question for those who’ve done it — is 18 days enough time to comfortably do both Greece and Turkey? We’ll be coming from Seattle and I’d love to make it a “two-in-one” trip…. Kenya and Tanzania seemed doable in the 18 days. And I was glad we did it that way. But… Is this vastly different?

Eighteen days is always gonna be a good trip no matter what--certainly enough for major highlights, but I am averse to the term "do" because it implies comprehensiveness and you're dealing with large countries.
I found both countries really easy to travel in, so if you do not see a tour meeting your needs, don't give up. The Greek islands can be a challenge due to logistics but that is usually because people are looking to speed through. The Greek mainland (Peloponnese) was one of my best trips, but the very best trip ever was Istanbul and Cappadocia.

I have been to Greece three times and we have a fourth trip of 17 days planned for May. So no, I don’t think you can “do” Greece and Turkey in 18 days.

That said, 18 days is a good length of time. I am obviously biased but I would spend 13 or 14 nights in Greece and then visit Istanbul. Turkish air would allow you to fly into Athens and out of Istanbul.

I know no private tour group to do this with but I think you could do easily in your own.

Our first trip to Greece was with our young adult children and my husband’s brother so there were 7 of us. I didn’t want to spend long days driving which I think would be a priority for a 6 year old as well. I would suggest a variation of what we did.

Go to one island for five days that you could fly to upon arrival. We went to Santorini and Naxos and Naxos was the clear favorite. There are others too of course. Then fly back to Athens and rent a car and drive to Nafplio. It is a good town for kids and lots of sites within easy driving distance and beaches too -although pebbled. Then go to Athens. We spent 3 nights that trip and were happy with that. Then fly to Istanbul and spend your remaining nights there.
