We have booked 3 day trips with Niki Vlachou for our upcoming cruise to Greece next week-Olympia,Athens,Santorini. I have paid the deposit via credit card and she has asked that we pay the remaining bill in euros the day of our first tour in Olympia. Is this the usual way to handle this-we just feel we need some kind of confirmation that we will receive our remaining 2 tours. She is recommended by Rick Steves-in fact she was the one he put in his cruise port directory to book. Has anyone used her for a tour guide before- her website is www.olympictours.gr
Yes, Niki is totally legit and you won't be disappointed. As you know, credit card companies skim a percentage of any purchase. Niki is just trying to avoid these fees by using cash.
Thanks for that confirmation of Niki-I did a three week trip thru Italy 6 years ago and uses Rick Steves advice all the way and they were all spot on-in fact when we stayed in Venice he happened to be staying there at the same time so I thanked him in person!
Niki was our RS local guide in Olympia when we did the RS Greece tour and she was wonderful. I still remember parts of her presentation (I won't spoil it for you) and she made the ancient site come alive. It's been our experience that private guides usually ask for their payment in cash, whether it's been in France, Greece or Amsterdam.
Enjoy your trip!
