I am heading to Greece in early June 2025 for 11 full days and would love trip advice. We are a family of four with two older kids (ages 16 and 19) and enjoy hiking/outdoor activities as well as historical sites and museums. One our best vacations was hiking Hadrian's Wall for 6 days.
We plan to spend a few days in Athens (possibly at the end of the trip) and would like to see Delphi and possibly go to some of the islands. I would love to go to Crete, but sadly I don't think that is realistic given the amount of time... I would have gone for three weeks, but my hubs hates the long vacations!
We are flying in from Las Vegas and will arrive on day 0 at around 4pm, I was thinking of renting a car and getting out of Athens right away. My hubs and I will be flying biz class -- so we will be a little more rested than the kids. I was thinking we might stay 1/2 between Athens and Delphi. If anyone knows any interesting small towns that would be helpful.
I'd love info on:
1. Unique off-the-beaten-path archeological sites that were really interesting.
2. Has anyone done a short cruise and has a recommendation for a company? Or done any overnight ferries to one of the islands? We have done overnight ferries in Europe before with pretty good success.
3. Itinaray help.
Thanks in advance for any tips....
