Greece referendum.....

At the moment, it appears that the "NO" vote has won the referendum. This puts the situation very much into uncharted territory so not sure what this will mean, but next week will be interesting. The German and French leaders have apparently called a meeting in Paris tomorrow, and I assume that's what they will be discussing.

Here's the New York Times article on the vote. Note their use of the phrase, "financial carpet-bombing," stating, "The European Central Bank cut off a financial lifeline to Greek banks, forcing them to close a week before the referendum, making it hard for retirees to get their money and raising widespread fear here that people would lose their deposits."

There doesn't seem to be a combination of austerity measures and forgiveness of much debt that all can accept. While all are frustrated, the people of Greece will most likely face dire consequences shortly.
