A few recommendations to get a map for Crete and Naxos for sure as we will have a car.
Curoius if anyone has purchased a map or downloaded one that they LOVE from these places.
(I have gotten got great ideas from other forums for places like hawaii, and Switzerland where they maps have been helpful, and not just road by road, but has tourist/pupular stops, " great places to stop" etc. Would love some feedback for These places in Greece.
We relied on our phones and the map the hotel gave us. I had also pre-downloaded Google map.
intersting as I was planning on google, but someone stsated that google might not be good for the crete trip.

In general, car rental companies give you a "basic" card showing the main roads and touristics spots
In Crete you will find more complete and precise maps on the island.
In Naxos too, but I think the basic card given by the rental company will be sufficient.
You will probably drive on narrow dirt roads (sometimes you can't avoid it to go to beaches, small villages, visit vineyards or producers of local products). Without a detailed paper map, use Google Maps or even better HERE Wego to see if you are taking the right path.
Pre-download the maps of the areas where you will go
Enter “ road maps of Crete( or other place)” on Amazon to find many options.

The google maps app on my phone worked well for us in Naxos and Sifnos last summer. Hotels usually have tourist maps as well.
