Greece in winter

Hey all, my family is going to Greece from December 27 until January 3rd.

Does anyone have good advice or links for traveling at this time. I’ve read that a lot of stuff is closed but it also a great time because there are no crowds. I’d love to hear from anyone who has been there at this time. Also is it worth traveling to an island that has a winter community or is our time better spent on the mainland?

We’re always in Greece at that time, and have written up some thoughts here

Unfortunately it’s not (yet) mobile friendly so you’ll need a tablet or PC.

A lot of islands are very quiet at that time of year, although we’ve been to Crete and to Syros both of which are lively. Overall though I’d be tempted to stick to the mainland - Athens and Nafplio are two of our favourites at that time of year.
